Canon announces new prototype CMOS sensor
Tuesday 26 June, 2007
In news which may be of interest to users of
Canon printer cartridges and
Canon laser toner cartridges, Canon has unveiled details of a new prototype CMOS sensor, it has emerged.
Created with a resolution of 52 megapixels, the new sensor measures 31.6x23.1mm and has reportedly been created with pixel leakage improvements of approximately ten per cent.
"Images communicate. They can be quick and simple to understand, or more subtle, complex and ambiguous," said Canon.
"At either extreme, they form the only language to cross all world boundaries. At Canon, we have devoted ourselves to becoming experts in this global language," the company added.
Although the company has not confirmed the type products the prototype may be used in, industrial applications and their presence in surveillance equipment has been mooted, which may interest users of
Epson photo printers and
HP A4 photo gloss laser paper.
Canon was established in 1937.
