Cartridge recycling to benefit others
Monday 22 January, 2007
A waste management and recycling company is encouraging consumers to recycle their printer ink cartridges with an initiative to raise money for a good cause.
ACM Waste Management has joined together with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) to launch a strategy whereby ZSL gets £1 for every ink cartridge donated.
"Special cartridge recycling bags printed with the ACM and ZSL logos are being sent out to all our customers and contacts, we have had 50,000 of the bags produced so if everyone helps and recycles just one cartridge we could raise £50,000 for ZSL," said Barry Bolton, chairman of ACM.
ACM becomes the latest organisation to introduce an inkjet cartridge recycling programme, which also accepts mobile phones.
Mr Bolton also said that the programme is a "great way" to encourage the recycling of printer cartridges as well as promote "vital" recycling initiatives in general.
With printer cartridge refills also offering a great way for ink cartridges to be reused, the days of throwing out old inkjet and laser peripherals are surely on their way out.
