Epson launches public consultation over wind turbine plans
Friday 23 March, 2007
In news which may be of interest to users of
Epson printer cartridges and
Epson photo printers, Epson in Telford has launched a public consultation in an attempt to garner support for the development of two wind turbines.
If planning permission is successfully obtained, the two turbines will be developed with Wind Direct, at a cost of £1.6 million per turbine; ownership of the turbines would be retained by Wind Direct, who would sell the electricity to Epson at a fixed cost for use at the site, reports the Shropshire Star.
"Ever since the days of the Iron Bridge, the Telford area has been at the heart of the latest developments in industry," said Kevin Browne, general manager at Epson in Telford.
"If the opposition is too much, we won't do it. Epson's philosophy is to co-exist with everybody else," he added.
In order to gauge the public mood, Epson is currently holding a two-day public exhibition in Wellington, which may be of interest to users of
Lexmark printer cartridges and
Lexmark laser printers.
In addition to printers - such as the
Epson Stylus Photo R1800 - Epson manufacturers a range of products, including scanners and projectors.
