Epson to replace 1290s?
Wednesday 10 January, 2007
Epson, the printer and printer ink manufacturer, is to replace the Stylus Photo 1290s inkjet printer with a newer model, according to reports.
The company is introducing the Stylus Photo 1400, which benefits from the use of Epson's new ink technology, Claria photographic ink. The new ink is a dye-based product.
Website Pocket-lint has suggested that the 1290s will now be phased out with the 1400 taking its place, which uses printing technology based on six inks to offer two centuries of durability from printouts.
Direct CD or DVD printing is also possible using the Stylus Photo 1400, allowing you to add a professional touch to any CDs or DVDs you create on your PC.
Already available from Epson in the United States, if the machine does make an appearance in the UK, consumers will benefit from its rapid printing speed. It is capable of rattling off a 4"x6" photo in just 46 seconds.
