HP encourages recycling
Monday 24 July, 2006
HP is encouraging both businesses and consumers to increase their recycling of electronic goods, such as printers, by expanding its product return and recycling operations.
The company has a goal of recycling £1 billion of hardware and HP printer cartridges by 2007 and the new measures, which increase recycling in the United States and Japan, work in tandem with existing measures in Europe and elsewhere to help HP achieve this aim.
Products from any manufacturer can be recycled at the collection events that HP runs, from monitors to laser printers, with the company doing its best to encourage further consumer involvement.
"Customers are integral to our worldwide commitment to the environment," said John Frey, manager, Corporate Environmental Strategies, HP.
"It is critical that we work with communities to explore innovative approaches to electronics recycling, so we can continue to offer the most environmentally responsible solution available while providing our customers with convenient choices."
Ink cartridge refills and refill kits are also ways that consumers can help to ease environmental effects from printing.
