HP lands PC Magazine award
Tuesday 28 November, 2006
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has been recognised by PC Magazine for the quality of its inkjet printers, in the publication's Manufacturer of the Year Awards 2005-06.
The awards covered a number of different categories, including such areas as desktop PCs, digital cameras and smart phones, among many others. HP came out on top of the inkjets.
"The awards are based on a systematic tally of products that have won recommendations in PC Magazine's group tests and reviews," said Bala Menon, general manager, DIT Group.
"Companies that have sent in the most number of winning products in a category over the previous year are given the overall award for that category, and the manufacturer that wins the largest number of category awards is the overall Manufacturer of the Year."
Although the magazine is a regional publication for the Middle East, the recommendation of HP inkjet printers surely serves as a seal of approval worldwide.
Samsung was acknowledged for the quality of its laser printers, among a host of other awards the manufacturer received. Due to its dominance, Samsung was also awarded the Overall PC Magazine Manufacturer of the Year Award.
Samsung has recently said it is looking to make its mark in the business printer market following the release of the "world's smallest colour laser".
