Kodak announces new digital camera technology
Thursday 14 June, 2007
In news which may be of interest to users of
HP A4 photo gloss laser paper and
Lexmark laser printers, Eastman Kodak has announced a new technology for digital photography.
According to Kodak, its new digital sensor offers enhanced light sensitivity that virtually renders redundant existing camera flash technology and builds upon the Bayer Pattern, developed by Bryce Bayer of Kodak in 1976, reports Reuters.
"We have a new technology for how to manufacture image sensors in a way that increases the sensitivity of the device to light by two to four times what's available today," said Mike DeLuca, market segment manager for professional and applied imaging at Eastman Kodak.
"Our first sensor with this technology will be available for sampling to camera manufacturers in the first quarter of 2008," he added.
Under the Bayer Pattern, sensors for colour images are constructed from an arrangement of blue, green and red pixels, which may interest users of
Epson photo printers and
Canon printer cartridges.
