Labelling more sophisticated than just a marker pen
Wednesday 09 August, 2006
People who use CDs and DVDs for recording digital pictures, music or any other form of media, have been warned against using a marker pen to label their discs.
With a host of printers on the market enabling the printing of labels for CDs and DVDs, use of a marker, which could stop the discs functioning efficiently, should be avoided where possible.
Ines Walke-Chomjakov, editor at the Munich-based computer magazine PC-Welt, has said that using marker pens can sometimes leave the disc unreadable and the expert says only special markers should be used on the "inside ring" where no data is, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
Some printers now even allow you to print directly onto the blank discs providing they have glossy labels attached.
"The printers have a flat slot for inserting the blank," Bettina Steeger from Canon said to the German agency.
With the option to print onto CDs and DVDs on a number of printers, storage can now be professionalized, providing you have enough printer ink!
