Long-lasting HP paper
Thursday 20 July, 2006
HP has claimed that its photo paper, used for printing photographs from digital images via your computer, has a somewhat outstanding lifespan.
According to website ITNews, HP has said that whereas some other papers would only last three years, its photo paper was reliable for at least 80.
The company drew on data from Wilhelm Imaging Research, which also suggested that HP paper dried quickly and could be handled as soon as it emerged from the printer, according to the IT website.
Wilhelm Imaging Research suggested that this was because HP manufactured and marketed porous photo paper, as opposed to the older swellable paper.
The porous paper absorbs ink very quickly from an inkjet printer, meaning the printout can be touched immediately. The same cannot be said for the older paper, which takes longer to dry.
HP has recently revamped its Photo Value Packs, adding HP Advanced Glossy Photo Paper 10x15cm borderless to the products.
