Microsoft reveals Vista-ready products
Friday 13 October, 2006
Microsoft has announced a number of peripherals, which could include printers, which will be compatible with its new Vista operating system and will carry a sticker to say so.
According to the computer giant, as many as 250 different products will carry the Vista-compatible confirmation on their boxes, with new products from printer makers HP, Epson and Lexmark among those ready to begin delivery.
Website ITnews.com.au reports that the product list was unveiled at the DigitalLife 2006 conference in New York, where corporate vice president of Windows client marketing at Microsoft Michael Sievert made the keynote speech.
The new Vista operating system is set to replace the existing Windows XP in new computers, with orders currently being placed online for a January 2007 delivery.
It is reported by the technology website that anyone who buys a new computer between October 26th 2006 and March 15th 2007 will get a coupon to make the step up from Windows XP to Windows Vista cheaper, or perhaps even free.
