New scanners from HP
Wednesday 17 January, 2007
HP has unveiled two new scanners that can be used to digitise old analogue photos.
The new Scanjet G4050 and Photoshop G4010 split up images into six colours – rather than the usual three – providing "exceptional colour accuracy" according to HP.
The six colours – red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, and blue – are each sampled at 16 bits per pixel in order to create a 96-bit image at a resolution of 4800 x 9600 dpi.
The scanners feature advanced dust and scratch removal system, which locates dust and scratches by means of an infrared LED.
An adaptive sharpening algorithm technology is also incorporated to optimise scan sharpness at high resolution by taking into account both the sharpness of the scanner and the resolution of the scan.
The Photoshop G4010 will be priced at £129. For around £70 extra the Scanjet G4050 offers a full bed TMA for scanning film, among other additional features.
HP recently announced its sponsorship of the "Making the Cover" website through Time Inc.
