New software to make job management easy
Friday 08 December, 2006
A new piece of software has been developed which should make printing in the office environment more efficient and manageable.
Improvements to Remote Queue Manager have been made by its maker, UsefulSoft, meaning it can now completely manage printer workloads. Print errors and overloads can be detected, with the software redirecting print jobs to other machines when such problems are discovered.
"Remote Queue Manager allows closer control over what and when is printed in a network," said Alex Egorov, chief executive officer of UsefulSoft.
"The network support makes it most effective for print workload balancing. The print server settings cover everything from port configurations to the paper size and the printer drivers."
Mr Egorov suggested that while the software will appeal to corporate and business users, home users can also benefit from Remote Queue Manager, which allows you to see detailed information about a print job, including the number of pages, size and colour.
Xerox's recently launched XOS version 4.2 software features Printer Infrastructure Mining, which is said to reduce printer downtime by mapping the printer network to alert the user to problems.
