Printer cartridges take on new forms
Wednesday 02 August, 2006
3DM Worldwide, the innovative plastic moulding technologies company, has reached an agreement with Close the Loop (CtL), which could see empty printer cartridges reused effectively.
If printer cartridges are not recycled using printer ink refills and stuck right back into the printer, they often get thrown away. However, this new agreement could see them used in a very different way.
The deal will see CtL, a recycler of image consumables, and 3DM turn used and printer cartridges into pallets using 3DM's impression moulding process, the AFX News Agency reports.
"We see great potential to expand our joint activities with CtL into Continental Europe and the US," Niall Mackay, chief executive of 3DM, said.
Three new moulds are being bought to facilitate the new process, with CtL paying 50 per cent of the costs.
The recycler is also committed to selling half of what is produced by the new moulds, according to the news agency.
