UK consumers most likely to print photos at home

Consumers in the UK are among the most likely to print their digital photos at home, according to the latest research.
Worldwide market research and consulting firm InfoTrends has found that along with Germany, residents of the UK are most likely to get their photo paper, ink cartridge and printer ready and make hard copies of their snaps in the home.
The findings were part of a larger project looking at digital camera and photo printing in western Europe, which also highlighted a move towards retail and online printing for larger print jobs.
Home was seemingly deemed better for low-volume jobs where the demand for photo paper and printer ink was less.
"One of the most surprising findings of this survey was the level of loyalty among those who print at home, however, photo print volumes are shifting towards retail locations and online photo services as awareness of these other printing methods is increasing," InfoTrends consultant Mette Eriksen said.
"We discovered that the preferred print location depends on the size of the print job; printing just a few photos is best suited for home, while large jobs are sourced to retailers or online photo services."
The survey also noted that approximately half those used hard copies as their preferred storage method for photos as did in 2005.
