Verbatim debuts LightScribe CD-Rs
Wednesday 17 January, 2007
Digital storage producers Verbatim has debuted a new range of LightScribe CD-Rs at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
When used in LightScribe-compatible drives, the new CD-Rs allow content to be burned on the data side of the disk while high-quality labelling is added directly to the label side.
The disks, which boast new coating technology, are available in five "vibrant" colours: red, green, blue, yellow and orange.
Verbatim promises that the LightScribe labelling technology is capable of producing silkscreen quality black text and graphics labels onto the label side of the CDs.
The new media introduced by Verbatim is also compatible with current CD-R, DVD-R and DVD+R standards, meaning a wide range of consumers can benefit from the added quality offered by the new discs.
The CDs will be available in the US initially, in 25-unit packs at a price of $19.99 (£10).
Verbatim also used the CES to demonstrate its latest 8GB and 12GB USB drives, under the Store n Go family.
