Granny injured 'monkeying around'
Friday 30 March, 2007
A grandmother from Chicago is recovering after injuring herself when showing her granddaughter how to use a set of monkey bars.
The sprightly 74-year-old Mary Baio was showing the seven-year-old child how to use the bars when a grab went wrong and she fell, hitting her head on the floor, reports WBBM780.
"It was one of those crazy things. We play every day. You have to keep young," said Ms Baio.
"My arm came out of the socket, the way I turned. It happened so fast. It was one of the craziest things," she added.
At the time of the accident Ms Baio passed out from a blow to the head.
Also known as the jungle gym and invented in 1920, monkey bars allow children - or adults - to climb, sit or even hang.
