Hugh Grant to give monkey as wedding gift
Friday 23 February, 2007
After reconsidering his decision over attending the wedding of his former girlfriend, Hugh Grant has not only decided to attend, but to also give a gift that is a little out of the ordinary.
Hugh Grant has decided that Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar need nothing more than a monkey named Elizabeth; according to the Daily Mail, the name is a reference to Hugh Grant's nickname used by Liz while they were a couple.
As part of his attendance at the forthcoming ceremony, Hugh will get to be an usher and will also get to make a speech.
"Hugh will be like a co-host alongside the best man on the day," said a source to the Daily Mail.
"He will be making a speech - but pointedly it will be clean," the source added.
Elizabeth the monkey is currently at a British zoo and as part of the gift, Hugh Grant is now obliged to offer maintenance payments, much like child support.
In related primate news, chimpanzees in West Africa have been seen hunting for animals in Senegal with spears made from sticks, according to the Seattle Times.
The wedding ceremony is scheduled to take place in March.
