Mad for it monkey
Friday 18 August, 2006
If someone told you a monkey shared the same face as you, you'd probably take it as an insult.
But not Liam Gallagher. The Oasis lead singer has adopted a monkey at London Zoo after brother and fellow bandmate Noel joked that the singer and monkey shared certain facial characteristics, according to ITN.
On a trip to the zoo with his children, Molly and Lennon, the Gallagher clan came across a Red-Faced Black Spider monkey. After a certain amount of ribbing from his brother and kids, Liam decided to adopt the monkey, something London Zoo encourages for £20.
"It's a very clever way for Liam to get around buying a real pet for the kids," a friend said, according to reports.
"This way he can keep them happy without having to feed and look after an animal while they're with their mums."
The zoo offers a photo, progress updates, free zoo entry and a magazine subscription for the £20, although Liam is thought to have made a "substantial donation" after deciding to adopt his look-alike monkey.
