Monkey mischief sees woman hit with rock

A monkey could have landed his zoo home in trouble after he took a dislike to one woman visitor.

The woman, 25-year-old Regiane Viana, was visiting the Rio de Janeiro Zoo in Brazil when she was attacked by a monkey, who threw a stone at the visitor. Ms Viana is now planning to sue the zoo.

"It was unbelievable, the monkey threw a rock at this woman out of the blue," a Rio de Janeiro Zoo spokesperson said, according to the O Dia newspaper.

"We never had this before, but we have to investigate and find out how he learnt this trick, soon people will think not even Rio's zoo is safe anymore, even the animals are getting violent!"

Ms Viana told the paper she had recovered from her monkey-inflicted injuries, but that the whole episode had shocked her.

It is not known whether the monkey will be called upon to testify to the court, should the case go that far.
