Monkey movements
Friday 15 September, 2006
SpongeBob, the Bolivian squirrel monkey, has had to move home after failing to settle on his return to Chessington World of Adventures.
The two-year-old was stolen from his home in Chessington, Surrey, in July this year but was found two days later.
Unfortunately SpongeBob has claimed in his personal blog that the other monkeys bullied him on his return and now it has been decided that he should be moved.
Battersea Park Children's Zoo has adopted him and SpongeBob's blog claims that he is excited to be moving on.
"The best thing is that it is not so far away from Chessington, so my keepers can come and visit me often and see how I get on with all my new lady friends," it said.
There was some more good news this week for SpongeBob and his carers as a man has appeared in court charged with his theft.
The 22-year-old from Bowater Close, in Brixton, south London, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him at Kingston's Magistrates' Court.
SpongeBob, who is worth £2,500, was taken from a walk-through enclosure on July 16th.
