Canon leads for colour printers
Friday 15 September, 2006
Canon has once again come out on top of the UK and Irish market for colour printer and colour-capable printer sales in the first half of 2006.
According to data from market research specialists InfoSource, the company commanded 29.4 per cent of the colour printer market, ten per cent ahead of its nearest rival.
"The latest InfoSource results are testament to the strength of our colour portfolio in an ever increasing market for colour devices in the UK," said Glen Mason, office marketing manager for Canon UK.
"If this trend continues we don't believe that customers will demand black and white devices in the office by 2010. In such an environment, our smart colour devices which intuitively know when to print in colour and when not to, will be well-placed to support Canon's ongoing leadership of the market."
The InfoSource figures also revealed that in the same sector throughout western Europe, Canon also remained on top, with a 19.8 per cent market share for colour and colour-capable printers.
Canon was also number one in the UK and Ireland for black and white, colour and colour-capable printers in H1 2006, with a 25.9 per cent market share.
