HP settles patent infringement case
Wednesday 07 March, 2007
Hewlett Packard (HP) has confirmed that a patent infringement dispute with a Chinese maker of inkjet cartridges has now been resolved, which may be of interest to users of
HP printer cartridges and
HP laser toner cartridges.
The dispute with Ninestar Image centred around alleged patent infringements after the firm launched a range of generic inkjet printer cartridges that could be used in some HP printers, instead of branded
HP printer cartridges.
Financial terms relating to the settlement have not been released, although Ninestar has confirmed its acceptance that patents had been infringed.
Sales of the cartridges will be stopped with the company's agreement and the US international trade commission is investigating the dispute, which may also be of interest to users of
Lexmark printer cartridges and
Epson printer cartridges.
Ninestar Image has obtained ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications.
