HP surpasses 100m printers
Monday 14 August, 2006
Hewlett Packard (HP) has surpassed the 100 million mark for the number of LaserJet printers shipped worldwide.
The achievement means that around 22 years following the first LaserJet printer sold by the company, an incredible number of people are using HP printers and the print cartridges that go with them.
HP was among the first companies to launch a laser printer, with the introduction of the LaserJet in 1984 something of a printing revolution.
According to the Times of Malta, HP printers have "changed the way people conduct business, communicate in the office and market products and services", with the LaserJet beginning this trend.
Designed originally for small businesses and offices, the first LaserJet was perfect for things such as letterheads and memorandums.
Now HP printers, using both toner and printer ink, are used by both home and business users, who have all contributed to the 100 million shipped units.
