Kodak launches new range of printers
Monday 30 April, 2007
In news which may be of interest to users of
Canon printer cartridges and
Epson printer cartridges, Kodak has launched a new range of inkjet printers.
Offering ink cartridges at a lower price than companies such as Hewlett Packard (HP), which may interest users of
HP printer cartridges, Kodak are selling compatible black cartridges for $9.99 (£5.01).
However, in response, HP has announced its decision to offer lower-cost ink cartridges.
"We think any competitor attempting to provide a low-cost solution is a good thing and validates our strategy," said Cheryl Pohlman, marketing manager for Kodak's inkjet systems unit, to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
"I think both Kodak and HP are responding to the general market and realise that customers desire better prices on their cartridges," added Charles LeCompte, president of Boston-based Lyra Research.
A five-colour ink cartridge has been priced at $14.99.
Kodak offers a number of consumer products, including digital cameras and memory cards, which may interest users of
HP A4 superior laser paper and
HP office paper.
