Lexmark 'breaks free'
Tuesday 17 April, 2007
In news which may be of interest to users of
Canon printer cartridges and
Lexmark printer cartridges, Lexmark has announced the introduction of WiFi enabled printers.
In total 12 new inkjet models are to be released to the market and will have the ability to print wirefree straight out of the box, or print wirelessly with the installation of a module in the case of eight models, reports the Kentucky Lexington Herald.
Two printers available for release today are the X4550 and the X3550.
"[Customers] want to be able to print to a wireless printer … but unfortunately for them, they're complicated to use and they're also three times the price of a non-wireless printer," said Jeff Willard, vice president of worldwide marketing at the consumer print division of Lexmark.
"I think we've created a line that's hit the affordability quotient," he added.
All 12 printers in the new range will still feature USB functionality for wired printing.
In addition to printers such as the
Lexmark C510, the company also manufactures
Lexmark laser printers.
