New printer 'offers one-page-per-second prints'
Wednesday 28 March, 2007
A new device capable of printing more than one page every second has been released, which may be of interest to users of
Canon printer cartridges and
Epson printer cartridges.
Produced by Silverbrook Research, the sub-$300 (£152) Memjet printer offers a print head the size of the printing surface itself, complete with more than 70,000 nozzles that allow the printing of full-colour prints at 30 pages-per-minute, reports tech.blorge.com.
"Conventional wisdom is that you cannot have high speed, quality colour and low cost all at once," said Bill McGlynn, chief executive of Memjet Technology's home and office business.
"This technology turns that notion on its head," he added.
Although standard colour prints can be produced at a rate of 60 pages-per-minute, draft mode output can achieve speeds of 90 pages-per-minute, which may be of interest to users of printers such as the
Epson Stylus Photo R1800 and the
Canon iP4200.
Silverbrook Research was established in 1994.
