Swiss company uses HP printers to smash record
Friday 01 September, 2006
A business in Switzerland has used Hewlett-Packard (HP) printers to print the world's largest hanging poster.
Christinger Partner, which operates in the ultra-competitive super-wide format printing market in the country, was able to pull off the feat using two HP Scitex XL1500 printers and a HP Scitex TJ8300 printer.
The company was challenged by Proctor and Gamble to produce a 4,069 square foot poster, which it successfully did in 120 hours.
"The HP Scitex TJ8300 allows us to guarantee a near offset-like quality of print to our customers and on runs of 300-400 it has even allowed us to compete effectively with litho on price," said Karl Kaiser, chief executive officer of Christinger Partner.
The Swiss market for outdoor posters and super-wide printing is so competitive due to the need for campaigns to have a multi-lingual approach.
Campaigns are often simultaneously launched in French, German and Italian.
