Epson changes cartridge packaging to go more eco-friendly
Tuesday 19 December, 2006
Epson looks set to take the use of recycled products to the next step by packaging its large format printing ink cartridges in recycled cardboard.
Previously, the printer ink cartridges have been housed in white cardboard, but now a switch to 100 per cent recycled brown cardboard is on the horizon, according to the Recycler.
The company is also set to standardise packaging for large format printer ink cartridges worldwide, replacing the current 30 different packages used for the 110ml ink cartridges across seven printers.
Packaging will now just feature black and white printing on it, rather than the colour that has been used in the past, while the cartridge casing plastic will change from grey to a natural colour.
The Stylus Pro 9800, Stylus Pro 9400, Stylus Pro 7800, Stylus Pro 7400, Stylus Pro 4800 and Stylus Pro 4400, all available in the UK, will be packaged in the new cardboard.
