European businesses 'risk consequences' of unattended confidential data

In news which may be of interest to users of
Lexmark printer cartridges and
Lexmark laser printers, European employees are exposing themselves to the consequences of leaving confidential data on printer output trays, new research suggests.
According to the results of a study by Lexmark, 64 per cent of respondents have either located or abandoned a confidential document on at least one occasion, reports Al Bawaba.
The survey found the UK to be the least printer-security aware, with 71 per cent of respondents either leaving or finding confidential documents left in the printer; Spanish employees were found to be the most security-minded.
"The results of this study highlight just what a high risk printed documents left lying on a printer tray can pose to businesses," said a Lexmark representative.
"We understand the importance of security to companies of all sizes," the representative added.
Although printed documents can include sensitive company data, Lexmark found non-work related paperwork - such as CVs - to be the most commonly printed.
Lexmark was established in 1991, which may be interesting to users of
Epson printer cartridges and
Canon laser toner cartridges.
