The new regulations have been initiated by America's Environmental Protection Agency and come into force on July 20th 2007; in meeting these requirements, HP has launched power supplies which it claims will offer efficiencies of 80 per cent, reports Computing.
"Our expanding family of energy-efficient desktop PCs not only help business customers meet upcoming regulatory requirements, but reduce the impact on the environment," said Jeri Callaway, senior vice president and general manager at HP's personal systems group.
Indeed, according to data released by HP, the new specifications can help generate savings of between £3.11 and £30 every year, when used with other hardware products that meet the new standards.
