HP recognised for Universal Print Driver
Monday 22 January, 2007
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has been recognised in the Middle East for the quality of its print driver technology.
The company, which manufactures a range of printers, inkjet cartridges and laser toner, has been given a technical innovation award for its Universal Print Driver (UPD) technology by the Industry Analysts Technical Services Division (IATSD).
"We are extremely proud to receive this award and would like to thank IATSD for this recognition," said Amr Hassan, general manager, imaging and printing group.
"HP Universal Print Drivers virtually eliminate the need for IT departments to test, deploy and support multiple print drivers."
One of the benefits of UPD is that it controls colour usage as well as recognising upgrades such as further printer paper sources, without the need to install further printer drivers.
The newest version of the UPD for Windows was made available by HP at the end of November last year, with the aim of reducing IT departments' printer driver need to a sole programme.
