Kyocera and IBM to form energy efficient team
Friday 28 July, 2006
Kyocera Mita and IBM have announced that they will continue to cooperate as next-generation printers are developed to include IBM's energy efficient technology.
Kyocera Mita already uses the technology in its current range of printers and IBM has revealed that the company will continue to utilise the technology to enhance the latest printers on the market.
"IBM continues to provide Kyocera Mita with excellent, energy-efficient technology while not compromising performance," said Makoto Koga, executive officer and senior general manager, corporate R&D division 3 of Kyocera Mita.
"IBM's rich IP portfolio allows Kyocera to add features for differentiation at the system level which helps enable Kyocera's printer technology to be more successful. And finally, IBM offers a superior architecture for scalability from low-end to high-end systems."
Kyocera Mita uses IBM processors and circuits in its range of low-end monochrome single-function page laser printers and high-performance, multi-function mono and colour laser systems.
IBM has said that its energy-efficient technology allows Kyocera Mita to get its products to market quicker, meaning all the customer has to worry about is whether they have enough printer ink remaining!
