Making life with a printer easy
Tuesday 14 November, 2006
For anyone who has ever struggled to get to grips with a certain aspect of technology, whether it is changing your printer cartridge or grappling with the internet, then today is the day when you are not alone.
November 14th is World Usability Day 2006 and more than 100 events will be organised across the world to promote the benefits of easy-to-use technology, usability engineering and user-centred design.
Organised by the Usability Professionals' Association, last year's World Usability Day was a huge success with more than 10,000 people getting involved in a series of online and offline events.
The theme of this year's event is 'Making life easy' and, according to the organisers, is pitched at the kind of people who often find themselves asking "Why doesn't this work right?" and "What am I supposed to do with this now?"
It promotes the belief that all users have the right to take advantage of technology that is easy to understand, whether it is using a printer, internet access for blind people or the use of mobile phones.
