New printer server boosts network capabilities
Tuesday 09 January, 2007
Linksys has launched its first print server with support for scanning, faxing and copying at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show.
The new printer model can fax, scan or copy from any PC on the user's network without the need to dedicate a separate PC to manage the print process.
The Wireless-G Print Server with Multifunction Printer Support is compatible with many multifunction devices from Canon, Dell, Epson, HP and Lexmark.
Mani Dhillon, director of product marketing in consumer business organization at Linksys commented: "With the popularity of multifunction devices on the market today, there was a clear need for a device that enables consumers to use them wirelessly."
In 2005, 49 million multifunction devices were sold, according to research firm Gartner.
Linksys manufactures voice, wireless, and networking hardware targeting home, small business, and small office or home office (SoHo) users.
SoHo users are fuelling the UK's growing army of home workers, with new statistics showing that 46 per cent of us worked remotely through the Christmas period.
