Printer launched that reuses paper

A new innovative printer has been launched that is capable of erasing and reusing printer paper.
According to reports, the B-SX8R from Toshiba can reuse the same paper up to 500 times by using specially engineered sheets made from plastic that reacts to heat.
"The B-SX8R will help reduce paper use thus preserving forest resources and reducing CO2 emissions during paper manufacturing and waste processes," said Mike Keane, European product manager at ToshibaTEC, according to Computing.
"The B-SX8R does a small thing in saving paper resources, but assists in the big practical objective of global environmental conservation."
With each single sheet of reusable paper, similar to the thermal paper used on early fax machines, set to cost around £5, the cost of use and ownership will not be cheap.
The printer has been initially launched in gadget-loving Japan, but Toshiba will make a decision on whether to launch it onto the European market depending on its success in the Asian nation.
Toshiba offers a range of printing and multifunction devices aimed at the business market, with high volume and colour capable machines among those available.
