Printer management software removes driver need
Monday 11 December, 2006
A new printer management software package has been developed, allowing printer data to be compressed and printer drives to be virtualised.
ThinPrint has launched .print Virtual Desktop Engine and will be demonstrating the new technology in Los Angeles at VMWorld 2006.
"We are excited about the possibilities the Virtual Desktop infrastructure opens and proud that so many customers are already deploying our solutions in these environments," says Carsten Mickeleit, managing director of ThinPrint.
"The technologies we have developed through product generations let VMware customers also benefit from the advantages of virtualisation in print management."
With the new software, printer data can be compressed to just one per cent of its original size, which ThinPrint has said makes it possible to use a mix of 64-bit and 32-bit environments.
Without drivers, the idea of a 'virtualised environment' can become more of a reality due to the printers and hardware not being tied down to this need.
Last week, UsefulSoft released the latest upgrade to its Remote Queue Manager, which aims to make printer job management easier and more efficient.
