Ricoh's rallying call over printer costs
Friday 17 November, 2006
Printer manufacturer Ricoh is calling on businesses in the UK to look at how they can cut costs on printing in 2007.
New research has revealed that two in three businesses have no idea how much their printing costs come to, with printer ink and printer toner being the most difficult things to budget for.
Of the 260 businesses surveyed, 16 per cent were unable to state how much money had gone towards printer hardware and software in the previous 12 months.
Chas Moloney, associate director of marketing at Ricoh, commented: "Businesses need to stop classing print costs as 'lost money'. A thorough analysis of their expenditure on print will enable businesses to recognise where huge savings can be made."
Courses of action advised by Mr Moloney include "rationalising printers, copiers, faxes and multi-functional devices" to make best use of them and to control costs so that there are "no hidden surprises at the end of the month".
With printing costs, according to research by Gartner, accounting for up to three per cent of a company's turnover, keeping costs in line with budgets is crucial for any organisation.
