TallyGenicom offers 'quieter' matrix printers
Monday 31 July, 2006
TallyGenicom has announced the launch of two mid-range matrix printers, aimed at busy office environments.
The 2248 and 2348 printers print at up to 448 characters per second and are much quieter than other matrix printers on the market, according to the company. At 49 decibels, they are ten decibels quieter than 'normal'.
"The TallyGenicom 2248 has an aesthetically pleasing body shape, together with good solid construction," said Jay Willis of Cash Converters, a company that uses the 2248.
"So much so, that it feels like you could drop it from a great height and it would still work! I was pleased with its excellent paper handling, as it copes with our multipart, four-ply forms with ease."
The 24-pin print heads last for an estimated 200 million characters, with the IBM Proprinter XL24E and Epson ESC/P2 command set compatible.
"We have already got a very big presence at the high end of the market, but wanted to make a solution for the manufacturing, healthcare, government and logistics industries who demand cost-effective printing and piece of mind," said TallyGenicom product marketing manager, Richard Bright.
