According to the Nikkei business daily, byd:sign is claiming that HP has hindered the company's sale of flat-screen television sets in America as a result of a separate legal case by HP against the firm in 2005, reports Reuters.
The firm is claiming that HP's lawsuit has damaged its "credibility" in the US.
And although it is not clear how much is being requested in compensation for the alleged damage, the Nikkei business daily has indicated that the amount could be as high as $100 million (£51.4 million).
Tokyo-based firm byd:sign manufacturers only flat-panel television sets, whose products may be of interest to users of

Representatives from both companies were unavailable for comment.
