Xerox has launched a new print server for a number of its digital presses, which could make
HP printer cartridge and
Lexmark printer cartridge users sit up and take notice.
FreeFlow Print Server 6.0 works with the Xerox DocuColor 5000, 7000 and 8000 digital presses, which Xerox has said will "deliver outstanding image quality and system performance".
Four main enhancements are available from the new server, Xerox has revealed, including ConfidentColor Technology, which uses a range of colour management tools to achieve exact colour matches.
An easy-to-use graphical interface employs a drag-and-drop system, while a powerful processor will mean that even large, complex print jobs can be processed quickly.
PDF job streaming and JDF job ticket support mean that workflow proficiency is another feature of the new digital press server, according to Xerox.
The company also announced the launch of a new digital copier and printer for the US market, although it is unclear whether the new model will make it to European shores.
Xerox was founded in 1906, adopting the Xerox company name from 1961.
