Xerox supplies NHS with printer solutions
Wednesday 23 August, 2006
Xerox is to provide print and document management services to the NHS' South Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority (SYSHA).
The agreement, worth approximately £50 million, will save the SYSHA some £15 million over a five-year period compared with current operation costs.
"Xerox Global Services sees this as a ground-breaking initiative within the NHS," said John Hopwood, director and general manager of Xerox Global Services UK, according to PublicTechnology.net.
"It demonstrates a new approach to the provision of a vital but non-core service, and shows how innovative partnerships can bring concrete savings."
A bespoke digital print room will allow Xerox to cope with all the SYSHA's on-demand digital print requirements, in both black and white and colour.
Print management services will also be provided to the trust's approved litho suppliers, the technology website reports.
"This contract releases NHS departments from a huge administrative burden and allows them to spend more time on patient-facing areas," Mr Hopwood added.
