Canon printer ink is firmly established as the first choice option for many consumers in the UK.

But while the brand's position in the British market is firmly secure, it's not resting on its laurels.

Indeed, Canon is keen to expand in other parts of the world and is already looking at building a stronger presence in South America.

The manufacturer said many countries in this area are "rapidly growing markets", so it could offer good growth potential.

Canon is supporting its efforts to expand in South America by sponsoring Copa America Argentina 2011, which it said is Latin America's "most prestigious" football tournament.

As a result, the brand will be widely used and showcased throughout the event.

"This represents a major initiative into the South American marketplace," Canon commented.

Canon has already sponsored this year's London and Milan Fashion Weeks – surely a sign of how it's trying to appeal to different markets.
