Home users need not only choose a typical A4 printer when using ink cartridges.

A number of manufacturers also make A3 printers that are suitable for home use and some of the models have been put through their paces by consumer watchdog Which?

The company has tested six models, including two all-in-one printers from HP and Brother, allowing users to copy, fax and scan as well as make the most of ink cartridges and create larger images or documents.

Which? notes that while A3 printing is possible on the two models – the HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format e-All-in-one and the Brother MFC-5890CN – scanning and copying can only be done on A4, because the plate is too small for an A3 sheet.

However, with the HP model, users can make the most of the supplied software to stitch together two halves of an A3 image to produce a full-scale scan.

A number of A3 printers are produced chiefly for image reproduction rather than text documents. A number of experts recently told ABS-CBN News that printed images offer greater details than online photos.
