Printer and ink cartridge manufacturer Canon has been identified as one of the most reputable brands in the world.

The study, conducted by the Reputation Institute, listed the technology company as the eighth most trusted corporation, ahead of major names such as Microsoft and Intel.

Printer makers performed well in the poll of the 100 most reputable brands in the world, with Xerox coming in at 38 and Kodak at 41 in the table, while Samsung placed 43rd.

According to the study's authors, building a positive relationship with customers could be a key driver for increasing a firm's success, as it was noted those with good reputations see the amount of recommendations made by customers increase.

The study examined over 1,000 of the world's largest firms before narrowing them down to a list of 100, which internet users were then asked to rate to determine the final positions.

This is not the only accolade Canon has received recently, as it was named by Forbes as one of the world's ten greenest companies.
