A new Android app has been launched in order to provide benefits for users of ink cartridges.

Epson revealed that its free iPrint mobile printing app has been extended to include smartphones running the operating system.

The product allows those who download it to be able to tell their Epson printers to print via a wireless signal.

Kristi Lanzit, product manager for consumer inkjets for Epson, pointed out those with Android mobile phones expect a "superior level of features and confidence when printing on-the-go".

She promised they will have a "hassle-free" experience when using the app, which allows smartphone owners to print web pages as well as photographs.

This comes shortly after a study conducted by PC Advisor in partnership with Kodak found that 88 per cent of people with a printer at home use it for photos, which the publication suggested may be partly due to greater use of camera-equipped smartphones.
