People looking to buy Canon ink cartridges may be interested to hear one of the manufacturer's digital cameras has won a photography award.

The EOS 600D was named as European Camera of the Year for 2011-12 by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).

It was stated by the judges that the device is an "extremely desirable model to amateur photographers" thanks to its excellent resolution and customisable functions.

Features of the camera highlighted by EISA included its full HD video capability, the articulated LCD screen and a range of beginner-friendly functions to make it easier to create high-quality images.

Canon also received prizes in the Professional Lens and Camcorder categories for its EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM and Legria HF M41 models respectively.

General manager of product managing for consumer imaging at Canon Europe Steve Marshall said: "These EISA awards are a powerful tribute to the products within both our photo and video groups and also highlight the market-leading quality Canon offers to consumers and professionals alike."

Another winner at the awards was Epson, as the firm's Stylus Photo R3000 received the best printer accolade.
