Individuals may need to purchase Canon ink cartridges if they invest in a Pixma MP499 model from the manufacturer for their home.

The maker states the device can offer users sharp results, including professional-quality photos, thanks to its high resolution and small droplet sizes.

This was a feature that was highlighted by Cliff Joseph of PC Advisor, who said the output was "very good", noting that when images are printed on specialised photo paper, it produces "very rich colours".

Canon adds that the all-in-one model – which includes scanning and copying capabilities – can be a convenient addition to a home due to its compact size and easy connectivity options, which include Wi-Fi functionality.

Mr Joseph observed there are several useful features on the Pixma MP499, such as the ability to shrink multiple pages to fit on a single sheet of paper, while the included software comes with several photo effects.

Recently, the reviewer also commended the Brother DCP-J125 for the quality of its outputs, which could be useful to keen photographers.
