Households looking to purchase a new printer and ink supplies have been pointed towards the Canon PIXMA iX6550 for its good print quality.

According to a review of the device from the PC World website, it is a no-nonsense machine that can be operating within seconds of being set up.

This could make it ideal for homes where there is no need for wireless connectivity or the option to print without a computer via memory card slots, while the printer also does not have a screen.

Colour photos and documents of A3 and A4 sizes are also handled well by the Canon PIXMA iX6550, noted the review, which said: "We don't have any real problems with it … it acquits itself well as a competent if slightly expensive single-user printer."

If users are wishing to print plenty of photographs, the PIXMA MG5350 from Canon may be a good choice, according to a recent review of the machine by David Bayon of PC Pro.
