Printer ink is likely to be in demand after a new poll found that the vast majority of people with printers use the device mainly to print out copies of photographs.

The research – which was conducted by Macworld and sponsored by Kodak – found that 88 per cent of respondents named printing photos as their primary use of their machine.

It was noted by the news provider that the cheapness of printers, digital cameras and of printer ink has enabled more individuals to take up photography as a hobby – which was previously an expensive pastime because of all the equipment needed.

"The cost of printing good quality, long lasting photos has dropped significantly over the past few years – and the price of total ink replacement is crucial," said Macworld.

People serious about photography may wish to combine their ink supplies with a special type of photo paper to achieve the best results, Andrew Ku of Tom's Hardware recently pointed out.
