It seems keen picture-takers are not limited to the human world after one wildlife photographer discovered a monkey had been using his camera to take dozens of pictures of himself and others.

David Slater was visiting a wildlife park on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi when he left some of his equipment unattended for a few moments and returned to find a macaque monkey happily snapping away with it.

He explained how the animal accidentally hit the shutter button, the sound of which got the attention of other primates.

"At first it scared the rest of them away but they soon came back – it was amazing to watch," Mr Slater said, adding it must have taken "hundreds" of pictures before he was able to retrieve his camera.

If the clever creature wants to see the results of his snaps, he may need to purchase some printer supplies and ink cartridges from Cartridge Monkey, as we work hard to offer the best deals to all our customers – be they human or primate.
